This Privacy Policy describes how The Deen Academy ("we", "us") handles information when you use the MyGLM mobile application and the myglm.com online tutoring platform (together, the "Service"). The Service provides live online Islamic education sessions connecting teachers and students through video conferencing.
The myglm.com platform and the MyGLM app are private services available exclusively to registered learners, teachers, and staff of The Deen Academy. There is no public sign-up: accounts are created and authorised by The Deen Academy only. No one outside of these registered users can log in to the platform, join sessions, or access session recordings.
Account information. When an account is created for you on our platform, we store your name and email address. Accounts are created for enrolled students and teachers of The Deen Academy.
Audio and video. During a live session, with your permission, the app accesses your device's microphone and camera to transmit your audio and video to other participants in the session. You control your microphone and camera and may turn them off at any time within a session.
Screen sharing. If you choose to share your screen during a session, the contents of your device screen are transmitted to other participants for the duration of the share. Screen sharing only begins after you explicitly grant permission through your device's system dialog, and you can stop it at any time.
Session recordings. Sessions may be recorded for educational purposes, such as allowing students to review lessons. Recordings capture the session's audio, video, shared screens, and chat. Recordings are stored on our own servers.
Chat and shared notes. Text messages and notes shared within a session are processed to deliver them to participants and may be included in session recordings.
The MyGLM app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking technologies. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, files, or browsing history. We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to anyone.
We use the information described above solely to operate the Service: to authenticate you, to deliver live audio/video sessions between teachers and students, to make lesson recordings available for review, and to maintain the security and reliability of our platform.
Sessions are hosted on our own private servers located in the European Union. Your audio, video, and screen content is transmitted directly between your device and our servers using encrypted connections (HTTPS/WebRTC encryption). We do not use third-party conferencing providers; the platform is operated entirely by The Deen Academy using open-source BigBlueButton software.
We do not share your personal information with third parties. Your audio, video, and shared content is visible only to the other participants of your session (your teacher or student, and where applicable, platform administrators). Session recordings are accessible only to registered learners, teachers, and staff of The Deen Academy with authorised platform accounts — they are not publicly available.
Account information is retained while you are an active student or teacher of The Deen Academy. Session recordings are retained to support ongoing education. You may request deletion of your account, your personal information, or specific recordings at any time by contacting us at the address below, and we will action your request promptly.
Our Service is used by students who may be under 18 as part of their enrolment with The Deen Academy, with the knowledge and consent of their parents or guardians. We collect only the minimal information needed to provide tutoring sessions (name, email, and session audio/video as described above). Parents or guardians may contact us at any time to review or request deletion of their child's information.
The MyGLM Android app requests the following permissions, used only as described: Camera (your video in sessions), Microphone (your audio in sessions), Screen capture (only when you initiate screen sharing), Notifications (session status), and Network access (connecting to our servers).
All connections between the app and our servers are encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). Access to our servers is restricted, and we take reasonable technical measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
